One of Shimla's oldest and most revered temples, Jakhu Temple sits atop Jakhu Hill at an altitude of 2,455 m. The temple is surrounded by a dense forest inhabited by rhesus monkeys. The 108-ft Hanuman statue visible from most parts of Shimla was inaugurated in 2010. The trek to the top takes about 45 minutes and rewards you with sweeping views of the snow-capped peaks.

Kufri sits at an altitude of 2,622 m, about 16 km from Shimla. In winter (December–February) it transforms into a ski destination; in summer it offers pony rides, a small zoo, and sweeping views of Hatu Peak and the Great Himalayan ranges. The church stands prominently on The Ridge and is considered one of the most photographed structures in Shimla.

The Himachal Pradesh State Museum and Library is located in a beautiful colonial building near Chhota Shimla. It houses an impressive collection of Pahari miniature paintings, sculptures, coins, jewellery, manuscripts, and archaeological artefacts representing the diverse heritage of Himachal Pradesh. The manicured gardens around the museum add to its appeal.
